Jane Ansell (1753-1824)Daughter of John Ansell and Abigail
FamilyFor children from marriage between Jane Ansell and John Wing, see John WingNotesFrom RootsWeb correspondence[1]:Jane Ansell married John Wing, surveyor to the Duke of Bedford, in Ingoldsby Lincs in 1784. She was born in Witham on the Hill in 1753. She had elder brothers John, who went to Ormsby, and Ben, who became a grazier and maltster in Thorney Abbey, where the Wings (who were also almanack writers) lived. Jane's father was John Ansell of Witham, who married twice, and both wives (Abigail, mother of the children, and Catherine) are buried in Thorney. The Ansells appear to be yeomen farmers and often churchwardens for several generationa at Witham on the Hill, though they probably originated from Kirkby Underwood, where a Richard is having children - and possibly a direct ancestor - in the 1580s.
