The marriage of Anna Elizabeth and Charles Freeth was witnessed by Emma Turner, and conducted by J.J.W.Turner. This is most likely to have been John Jervis William Turner, the Chaplain at a school for boys at Crowborough, a nearby village.
Summerford Farm
John Turner was a farmer at Summerford, Withyham, Sussex
The 1841 Census shows
John (aged 60) and his wife
Alice (aged 55) at Summerford Farm, with children
Anna (aged 20),
John (aged 15), and
Emma (aged 15). There were 6 servants. All were born in Sussex.
The Summerford farm at Withyham dates back to 1326
[2]. A John Turner is noted as the Tenant in 1794 and 1801. It is likely that this John Turner is the grandfather of Anna, and died in 1829
[3]. He resided at Heartwell Farm, Hartfield at some time prior to his death. His son, John Turner (Anna's father) sold the property in 1829
[4]. There is also a deposition stating that John Turner is the son of John Turner, late of Heartwell Farm.
The Sussex Weald site
http://sussexweald.net/m00.asp?PicIdto=60908304 has a copy of Greenwoods 1823 map showing Summerford Farm (just above Walls Green).
By the 1851 Census, Summerford farm is occupied by the Dives family.
